The Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen proposed an area in the Indian Ocean off the Bunbury region, Western Australia for offshore wind on the 20 February 2024.The proposed area covers 7674 km2 and is set back at least 20kms from the shore. The area is located offshore between Dawesville and Cape Naturaliste, WA.
Feedback will help inform the Minister’s decision on whether the proposed area is suitable for offshore wind development. Your feedback must be provided by 11:59pm (AEDT) Friday 3 May 2024.The Bunbury offshore wind project is set to create more than 12,000 jobs during construction and 6000 ongoing jobs and generate 20GW of power.
